How to support your clients for the post-holiday period? It is well known that during the holiday season between late December and early January, it is very difficult to focus on one’s diet. Indeed, apart from the magic of Christmas, with the tree and gifts, there are family or friends’ meals, and their share of chestnuts, turkey, lobster, and other sweet, salty, and alcoholic indulgences that are certainly enjoyable but sometimes challenging to rebalance. It is your role, as a beauty therapist, to help your clients make good resolutions to start the new year on the right foot, both aesthetically, physically, and nutritionally.
How can you reassure your clients who come to your centre with a few extra kilos or tired skin? Valérie Espinasse, French micronutritionist, provides valuable advice here.

“It is necessary to take action, that’s for sure!” says Valérie Espinasse. Indeed, after the holidays and their excesses, whether it’s alcohol, sugar, or fat, it is health, energy, weight, and skin that pay the price. “Beyond a negative effect on health, the skin’s energy is clogged from overeating.” It is therefore essential to temporarily modify your diet after the holidays: practice “dry January,” that is, no alcohol for at least 3 weeks to relieve the liver, an essential organ for skin regeneration and weight loss. Valérie Espinasse adds: “In the plate too, we go dry, especially in the evening with a menu of soups, purees, salads, stir-fries, in short, a vegetarian dinner, 100% green, without cereals or animal proteins, 5 days out of 7 and for 3 weeks. The advantage is that you quickly feel much better, and the benefits manifest themselves soon.”
As for the good practices to adopt as often as possible, here is what Valérie Espinasse shares:
Eliminate processed foods
Reduce industrial sugars to a minimum
Consume a maximum of fruits and vegetables, ideally organic
Drink at least 1.5 litres of mineral water per day
Avoid frying and high-temperature cooking
Reduce alcohol consumption
After the holidays, clients want to get rid of that “heaviness” feeling and are in demand for detox for the body and face.
